document3

I am typing this in Word, and I just named the file "Document3." That's about how inspired I am lately, despite the fact that there are significant life changes on the horizon. Maybe I am just freaked out by turning thirty. Or maybe I haven't done anything all that interesting lately except nurse a cold and watch Sex and the City.

I've actually been watching SatC backwards; I started with the sixth season, and I finished season four this weekend. It's been doing strange things to me too. So far, under the influence of Sex and the City, I've purchased extremely pointy shoes, worn a top with my pink bra artfully peeking out from beneath it, and had an intimate experience with a hand mirror. I'm sure people who watched the show when it was first on did all those things too, but they maybe didn't do them all on the same day.

I'm marking my upcoming milestone (thirty thirty thirty) by going on a trip with my never-been-to-Europe best friend Tim and my talked-us-into-flying-to-Rome-for-a-sandwich boyfriend Ian. We are planning to visit fabulous cities like Amsterdam, Brussels, Antwerp, Bruges, and Rome. We're leaving four days after my birthday and we'll be gone for two weeks. Awesome.

I added a bunch of travel stuff to my wish list, which I am linking here for the benefit of people who are related to me, and therefore obligated by law to buy me gifts. I mean I'm no lawyer, but I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

In other news, I've been busy compiling as much scientific data as possible for my American Idol pool predictions. I've won two pools in a row at work. I won $120 in the Oscar pool, and a dozen red roses in the Bachelorette pool. So I've got to make a strong showing in the American Idol pool to protect my reputation.

Man, I used to not even watch this show. What happened to me?

I have a complicated scientific ranking system that is going to guarantee my victory. That's the theory, anyway. According to this system, as of right now, Mario, Bo and Carrie are going to be in the top three, and Mikalah, Vonzell and Scott are going to be the next to go. I guess we'll see.

I haven't done the window to the past in a while, so allow me to quote from an entry that was approximately 365 days ago (give or take): cooking for dummies.

Then, in a blind panic, I just started breaking up the salmon into chunks, smooshing the chunks flat with my spatula, and flinging more lemon pepper on top of everything. As the small chunks looked "done," I threw them all onto the clear plastic "plate" and hoped for the best.

Aah, good times. Next I'm going to do a whole entry that's only Journal Quotes of the Day. I miss Journal Quotes of the Day, and I've been saving them up.

And finally, I want to give a shout-out to my birthday grrls who are either also born in March, also turning thirty, or both: Eliza, Chiara and Sarah. I raise my birthday martini glass to you all. Clink!
